A 5 HP motor is 3.7 kW. Direct-on-line on a hybrid is how inverters die.
PV + VFD, oversize the array ~20%, pump while the sun is up. Battery only if you must irrigate after dusk. Government agri solarisation is a separate file — we still size from HP and hours.

VFD first
Soft-start, 3-phase if the motor is 3P. Street VFD 5.5–15 kW roughly Rs 35–85k. Skipping it is not a saving.
No battery default
Water in the canal at 2 p.m. is free from the sky. kWh in an LFP pack to sprinkle at 9 p.m. is a luxury. Add a pack only for the house on the same feeder.
